＜夜明けに向かって叫ぶ ― 蛇谷ケ峰山頂＞
Shout towards dawn
この10月の連休、のんびりと秋の奥比良（約22㎞）を歩いて来た。
1日目、朽木温泉から蛇谷ノ峰（標高902m）への夜間登山のあと、
山頂の樹木の枝葉に潜り込んで野宿をした。
山頂を取り巻く満天の星や、高島・マキノ・朽木の灯火（ともしび）を
楽しみながら夜を明かした。
2日目は、山頂で、晴天に恵まれた夜明けを迎え（写真）、
奥比良を縦走したあと、八雲が原にツエルト（簡易テント）を張った。
しかし、夜半、襲い来る強風と激しい雨に見舞われ、身を縮めて
朝を迎えることになった。
3日目、悪化する天候を避けて、当初の予定を切り上げ、
荒川峠より志賀の里にエスケープ（緊急下山）した。
下界は晴れ渡り、雨に濡れた山男をあざ笑っているようであった。

During this holiday, I walked alone on Mt. Hira, about 22km.
On the first day, after climbing from Kutsuki Onsen to Mt.Jadanimine (elevation 902m) at night, I sneaked into the branches and leaves of the trees at the top of the mountain.
I spent the night enjoying the stars surrounding the mountaintop and the lights of Takashima, Makino, and Kutsuki-village.
On the second day, at the top of the mountain, I reached the dawn blessed with fine weather (photo), and after trekking Okuhira, I set up a simple tent in the field of Yakumo-Daira.
However, in the middle of the night, I was hit by strong winds and rain, and I shrank and greeted the morning.
On the third day, avoiding the worsening weather, I rounded up my original schedule and escaped from Arakawa Pass to Shiga-no-Sato.
The grand world was clear and it seemed that was laughing at the rain-soaked mountain man.

The morning of creation at Mt.Jatanigamine
かって、天地創造の朝をエジプトのシナイ半島にそびえたつ岩山 シナイ山で
迎えたことがある。
モーゼが十戒を授かった旧約聖書に出てくるあのシナイ山である。
山頂を埋め尽くした人々の口からの感嘆の声と共に、あふれ出る賛美の涙を
抑えることもなく立ち尽くす人々の姿を忘れることが出来ない。
天地創造の朝は、この星地球が誕生して以来、46億年間毎日迎えている
荘厳な儀式である。
我が人生の一瞬、いままさに営々と続く天地創造の朝を、ここ地球のびわ湖を
見下ろす蛇谷ケ峰で迎えようとしているのだ。
この朝もまた天地創造の朝に出会えて感無量であった。

Once upon a time, I have been celebrated the morning of Creation at Mount Sinai, a rocky mountain that rises above the Sinai Peninsula in Egypt.
That is Mount Sinai, where Moses received the Ten Commandments.
I never can forget the people who stood up without restraining the tears of praise that overflowed, along with the voices of admiration from the mouths of the people who filled the mountaintop.
The Morning of Creation is a majestic ritual that has been held every day for 4.6 billion years since the birth of this planet Earth.
For a moment in my life, I am about to welcome the morning of Creation, which continues steadily, at Mt.Jatanigamine, which overlooks Lake Biwa on this earth.
I met again this morning on the morning of Creation.
I am deeply grateful.

＜星空観察基地としての比良の山々＞
Many mountains that can observe for the astronomic in Mts. Hira
ここ蛇谷ケ峰をはじめ、比良山系には幾つかの星座観測に適した山頂がある。
山頂が樹木によってさえぎられず平らで、その多くが山麓の灯火を浮かび上がらせ、
天体の星座の輝きと交じり合ってロマンチックな光の舞台を構成するのである。
ここ蛇谷ケ峰はじめ、武奈ケ岳、堂満岳、打見山、蓬莱山、権現山などがある。
ただ、武奈ケ岳だけは山中にあり、完全な天然プラネタリウムといっていい。
ぜひ、天気のいい夜、山頂でマットの上に寝ころんで野宿をし、天体に横たわる
天の川や星座を鑑賞するというロマンにひたってみてはいかがだろうか。
星座表をぜひ持参されることをお勧めする。
夜空をよぎる流星、それは一人の星の王子さまがまたこの星にやってきたのだ。
流れ星との出会いもまた、一期一会として心に深く刻まれるものである。

Both Mt. Bunagatake and Mt. Horai have a 360-degree view, making it a perfect place for astronomical observation.
On summer nights, I look forward to laying down on a mat at the top of the mountain and observing the Milky Way and constellations.
A comet that crosses the night sky, because one star prince will come to this star again ...
Encounters with shooting stars are also deeply engraved in my heart as a once-in-a-lifetime meeting.

＜蛇谷ケ峰で星空観賞を楽しむ＞
朽木温泉にある登山口を午後4時半ごろスタートし、ヘッドライトをたよりに、
夜間登山を楽しみながら暗闇の山頂に午後7時半ごろに到着した。
朽木温泉先の登山口をスタート（16:00） 蛇谷ケ峰に到着（19:30）
途中、谷に流れる水の音を楽しみながら、鹿たちの闇を切り裂く鳴き声に導かれ、
どこまでも続く丸太の階段を踏みしめながら山頂にたどり着いた。

山頂は、高島のダイヤモンドのように輝く灯火や、遠くのマキノ、近くの朽木村の
灯で取り巻かれ、まるでクリスマスのイルミネーションのなかにあった。
さっそく、深夜の天体観測に備えて寝床づくり、緑苔にシートを敷き、スリーピングマットの上に寝袋を開け、手元にスケッチブックや星座表、懐中電灯、磁石を置き、気付け用のブランディ―と演出用のipodの準備もした。
さらに空腹を満たすためのインスタントラーメンを作ったり、寒さをしのぐコーヒーづくりのための携帯コンロも配して万全である。
暗闇を切り裂く鹿たちの鳴き声も、夜空の星たちに呼びかけているようにも聴こえ、
天体観測・鑑賞の演出も出来上がってきたようだ。

風雪に耐える一本の樹が、変わらない一生を見続ける
その姿に、自分を重ねてみた。

It is a scene when running vertically in Mts. Okuhira.
The village of Kutsuki is in a deep sleep wearing a sea of clouds.
The life that endured the wind and snow was overlaid on the figure that kept watching the unchanging life.

＜人間に対する警告＞
Warning to humans
奥比良縦走の朽木温泉横にある登山口には、入山者に注意喚起する標識に
＜警告 熊出没注意＞とある。
登山届を投函しながら、熊除けの鈴を持参していないことに気づいたのである。
緊急救助要請用の笛を鈴の代用にして、時々笛を吹いて森にお邪魔していることを
知らせることにして蛇谷ケ峰への夜間登山に臨んだ。
山頂での星座鑑賞のための野宿の間にも、熊の訪問を阻止するため持参した食料袋を
サイトから離れた高い枝に吊るした。
もちろん、時々笛を吹き、二本のストックを叩いて、来訪者がいることを熊や鹿、
猪たちに知らせたものである。
縦走二日目、蛇谷ケ峰直下で、熊の縄張りを示す生々しい熊の鋭い掻き傷をみた時には、このような近くに熊がいたかと思うと、心底恐怖にかられた。
熊さんたちの生活圏に入る時には、訪問者としての謙虚な姿勢が大切であることを再認識させられた。

There is a <Warning bear infestation caution> that alerts the climbers at the trailhead next to Kutsuki Hot Spring which runs vertically in Mts. Okuhira. While posting the mountain climbing notice, I realized that I didn't bring a bear bell. I decided to use the whistle for emergency rescue as a substitute for the bell and blow the whistle from time to time to let me know that I was in the forest.
Even during the inn for viewing the constellations on the mountaintop, I hung the food bag I brought with me on a high branch away from the site to prevent the bear from visiting.
Of course, I occasionally blows a whistle and hits two stocks to inform bears, deer, and wild boars that there are visitors.
On the second day of the traverse, when I saw a sharp scratch on a fresh bear showing the territory of a bear.
I was deeply scared to think that there was a bear near such a place. When I entered the living area of the bears, I was reminded that a humble attitude as a visitor is important.

奥比良、尾根歩きから見るわが故郷はいつ見ても美しい。
眼下に西近江平野、高島の街並みの先に奥びわ湖が横たわり、
その奥の鈴鹿の山並みが淡海の国を温かく包み込んでいる。
故郷は、こころを癒してくれる清涼剤である。

Our hometown seen from the ridge walk is always beautiful.
Lake Biwa lies in front of the village scape of Takashima in the Nishi-Omi Plain below.
The mountains of Suzuka in the back warmly envelop the country of Awa－Umi(Lake Biwa）.
Always our hometown heals the mind.
奥比良縦走二日目の稜線より北近江の風景を楽しむ
＜山の食事は至福な時間＞
Mountain meal is a blissful time
山登りの楽しみの一つに、食事の時間がある。
腹ごしらえはもちろんだが、書き残した記録をつけ足したり、次なるルート上の
難所や所要時間の確認を行うのである。
また、山に迎えられて食事をしたあと、大地に体を横たえ山の香りをかぎ、山と
おしゃべりするという山登り本来の醍醐味にひたることが出来る貴重な時間でも
ある。
《 生きしもの きらめく露の 消えぬ間に 命の糧を 喰いてや嬉し 》
－いきしもの きらめくつゆの きえぬまに
いのちのかてを くいてやうれし－
One of the pleasures of mountain climbing is meal time.
Not to mention getting hungry, I can add the records I left behind and check the difficult points and the required time on the next route.
It is also a precious time to lie down on the ground, smell the scent of the mountain, and chat with the mountain after being greeted by the mountain and having a meal.

＜キノコ、お山の姫たち＞
Mushrooms, mountain princesses
人間も同じだが、山の樹々の代替わりは自然の摂理である。
老木が朽ちると、美しいキノコたちがその艶やかなファッションを競って、
倒木に花を添え、その一生を称えるのである。
キノコという姫たちに飾られた老木は、安らかな眠りのなかで、満足げな
寝息を立てて満足気である。

As with humans, the alternative to mountain trees is the providence of nature.
When an old tree decays, beautiful mushrooms compete for its glamorous fashion, adding flowers to the fallen tree and celebrating its life.
The old tree decorated with princesses called mushrooms is satisfied witｈ a peaceful sleep.

森で出会う自然の織り成す創作品は、いつ鑑賞しても壮大であり、奇想天外、
心打つオブジェ群である。
そこには人の発想を越えた、魂を尽くしきった究極の表現がある。
人もまた老いを認めて初めて人の道に達すると、森は教えてくれている
ようである。

The creative works woven by nature that I meet in the forest are magnificent, strange, and heart-pounding objects that I can appreciate at any time.
There is an ultimate expression that goes beyond human ideas and is full of soul.
Forest seems to tell us that people also reach the path of humanity only after admitting aging.

高校時代に初登頂して以来、日本二百名山である武奈ケ岳に何度登った事だろうか。
今回も元気に再会できたことを喜んだものである。
武奈ケ岳の左後方の山が釣瓶岳(1098m)、その奥に前夜野宿した蛇谷ケ峰(902m)が
遠望できる。
奥比良は登山者も少なく、びわ湖や北山の優雅な景色を眺めながらトレッキングを
楽しめる、好きな縦走路である。

So many times I have climbed Mt. Bunagatake, one of the 200 famous mountains in Japan, since I first climbed it in high school.
We were delighted to be able to meet again this time.
The mountain on the left rear of Mt. Bunagatake is Mt. Tsurubedake (1098m), and behind it I can see Mt.Jatanigamine (902m), which was in the eve.

ロングトレッキングの後、テントやツエルトを張り、寝袋にもぐりこんだ時、
一畳ほどの空間に広がる安堵感というか、わがねぐらのぬくもりを体いっぱいに
感じるのである。
周りを自然に囲まれているというだけでワイルドな気持ちになり、
自分が人間ということを忘れてしまうのだから不思議である。
人はみな所詮、自然の一員なのである。
この夜ばかりは、鹿も狸も、リスも小鳥たちも、そうガマガエルさえも
家族なのである。

After a long trek, when I put up a tent or zelt and sneak into ｍｙ sleeping bag.
Ｉ can feel the warmth of my roost, rather than the relief that spreads in a space of about one tatami mat.
It's strange that just being surrounded by nature makes me feel wild and forgets that I'm a human being.
After all, human beings are a member of nature.
Only this night, deer and raccoon dogs, squirrels, birds, and even frogs are one family.

＜暗闇を照らす炎＞
The flame that illuminates the darkness
日が暮れた山歩きで、食事にありつく時ほど、ほっとすることはない。
揺らぐ炎を見ていると、異次元に誘われているおのれに気づくことがある。
そこはもう心象の世界であり、炎の踊りに酔いしれているもう一人の自分を、
じっと見つめるおのが森の暗闇である。
森は静まりかえり、炎だけが怪しげに踊りだした。
《 疲れ知り 重荷おろせし 暗闇で 舞見る炎 こころ豊たけき 》
－つかれしり おもにおろせし くらやみで まいみるほのお こころゆたけき－
The flame that illuminates the darkness walking in the mountains at sunset is not as relieving as when I have a meal.
When I look at the fluctuating flames, I may notice that I am being invited to another dimension.
It's already a world of imagination.
The forest is quiet and only the flames are suspiciously alive.
魅惑の炎が闇夜に踊りだす

The mountain is in the clouds
山歩きで、幻想的な雲の中を歩く楽しさは格別である。
そこには魔法の世界が広がり、ファンタスティックな風景にひたることが出来る。
人生もまたピントをぼかせば、景色が変わるから面白い。
夢もまた、現実をアレンジした雲の中を見ているのかもしれない。

The fun of walking in the fantastic clouds while being in the mountains is exceptional.
A magical world spreads out there, and I can immerse myself in a fantastic landscape.
Life is also interesting because the scenery changes if you focus on it. Dreams may also be looking in the clouds, which is an arrangement of reality.

その堂々たる守護神は、神の使いとして登山人の安全を見守ってくれているのだ。
トレックしていると崖から、湿地から、草むらから飛び出してきてガマ問答を
挑んでくるのである。
「君は何しにこの山に来たのかね？」
「幸運をもらいに、君に会いに来たんだよ！」
「わしが女神に見えるかね！」
「・・・・？」

The king of the Hira Mountains is the toad.
The majestic guardian deity watches over the safety of climbers as a messenger of the god.
When trekking, they jump out of cliffs, swamps, and grass and challenge the question and answer.
"Why did you come to this mountain?"
"For good luck, I came to see you!"
"Does I look like a goddess!"
" ...? "

＜比良縦走エスケープを決断＞
Decided to escape Mts. Hira traverse
当初予定の比良比叡縦走を断念し、荒川峠よりエスケープ（緊急下山）することに
なった。
悪天候による低体温を恐れたからである。
トレッキング継続か中断か随分と迷った。
この写真は、エスケープを決意し、安堵した時に荒川峠で撮ったものである。

I abandoned the originally planned Mts. Hira-Hiei Traverse and decided to escape from the Arakawa Pass (emergency descent).
This is because I was afraid of hypothermia due to bad weather.
I was at a loss as to whether to continue or interrupt trekking.
This photo was taken when I decided to escape and was relieved.

比良比叡縦走を悪天候によって断念し、荒川峠よりエスケープしたが、
どうしても気分が晴れないのである。
荒川道を下りながら、お猿さんたちはいったい何を食べているのだろうか
という思いにかりたててみた。
そして、下山途中で拾い集めた森の果実を、帰宅後、皿に盛って
お猿さんランチを作ってみた。

I abandoned Mts. Hira-Hiei traverse due to bad weather and escaped from the Arakawa Pass.
But I just couldn't feel better.
As I went down the Arakawa Pass, I wondered what the monkeys were eating.
Then, after returning home, I put the fruits of the forest that I picked up on the way down the mountain on a plate to make a monkey's lunch. Monkey Lunch Menu <Akebi-Chocolate Vine sausage, beehive, chestnut, acorn>
Will the monkeys be happy?

＜お山の天気は変化自在＞
The weather in the mountains is flirtatious
今回の比良縦走にあたっても天気予報を前もって研究し、情報を集めた。
それによると、縦走期間中は天気よく、雨は降らないことになっていた。
しかし、歩き出して2日目の夜からお山は激しい雨となり、
老体をいたわるあまり軽量化したことで、
夜討ちの雨やツエルト防水の弱さから着替えをはじめ、
寝袋までも濡らしてしまった。
加えて軽量化のため、雨具をポンチョに代えていたので、
翌日もまた強風雨の横殴りにあい、着衣も濡れてしまい低体温の恐れに
落ちってしまったのである。
無念だが、老体からくる軽量化に走った己の軽薄さを恥じながら、
荒川峠からエスケープしたことはすでに報告したとおりである。
お山の天気は変化自在であり、浮気者であることを知りながら、
お山の天気に翻弄された。
残念ながら下山となってしまったが、奥比良縦走前半の素晴らしい尾根歩きと、
後半の幻想的な雨雲の中を歩けたことに満足している。

I also researched the weather forecast in advance and gathered information for Mts. Hira traverse. According to it, the weather was fine and it was not supposed to rain during the vertical run.
However, from the night of the second day after walking, the mountain became heavy rain.

今回の奥比良縦走は、北から南に向かっているが、
進行方向、すなわちゴールに向かって記帳するので、行程表は下部から上部に向かって記録している。
左右は正常、東西が逆となるので注意して読んでいただきたい。
＜老人の所要時間＞には、休憩・記録・スケッチ・飲食などが含まれている。
♂♀は縦走中、出会った登山者である。＜対面＞は出会った人数、
＜TR及びその他＞は追い越された登山者の人数である。
■2021奥比良縦走ルート図
スタート➔ゴールの地図上での直線距離は約15㎞であり、縦走歩行距離は約23㎞/万歩計測であった。
△印は、野宿・ツエルト泊地を示す。
水の補給は、地図上の４か所で行った。ほかに須川（ボボノフ）峠下の谷水で給水することが
出来そうである（未確認）。

携行品の軽量化は単独行においての永遠の課題である。
今回は、山頂や尾根筋での天気予報の読み違いから、後半、雨天縦走となったが、
雨具やテントの軽量化には特に慎重であるべきである。
